Snowflakes Twinkle – A Wintry Rhyme

My Cattle Dog

Snowflakes  twinkle

on

our noses,

A gift

from

God,

much like roses

At our door

from

loved ones

dear;

Heavens snowflakes

show

that

God

is near.

Christmas Together

 Memories of Christmas together

Cold wintry night

Deserted romantic restaurant

Bottle of the best wine

Prime rib charred just right

With horseradish

Au jus

White tablecloth

Warm kisses

So much love

Happiness

Warm fire

Soft Christmas music

Lobster appetizers

Gazing into each other’s eyes

Laughter

Carefree

Dressed in our best

Fragrances of cologne

And gourmet cuisine

Waiter’s full attention

Not wanting the night to ever end

Two years ago

But to be remembered forever

and ever

and ever

 and ever…

God’s Christmas Love

The feel of Christmas

Expectations and hopes for joy,

Are dreams for every girl, boy

And grownups too.

But, the truth be known

The path that’s sown;

Unrealized dreams

So it seems

Are sordid truths –

With no way to soothe.

Let us all join together

To meet the season right.

All mankind lives

Under the Holy Christ light.

The trumpets of angels

Sound loud in his name.

All seemingly

Neglected brethren

Will have His love

All the same.

A Poem Of Thanksgiving

Holiday Turkey photo (courtesy of LaurenBeth on Flickr)

It’s turkey meal with all the trimmings

Not the time to think of slimmin’…

Diets to decrease the waist

Are fast forgotten , we’ll just baste

That turkey good;

And know we should

Give up the fight

Until twilight,

Then we can avow

To diet NOW !

NATURE’S TANGO

As a lashing, whipping wind tore at the sail of a fairly new schooner,

A tempest, larger than most men had ever seen…Approached

Armored as nature’s tango- With absolute resistance,

To the calm that had existed,  just moments ago.

Seaweed and broken shells lined the jagged shoreline

Seeming to strike incidence to the disarray of

Storms quick approach;

With sapphires of lightening strikes,

Suggesting the passage of the constant unrelenting turmoil.

The Perfect May Day

A short while back, I wrote this poem that was published in The Examiner, a newspaper that spans five counties in the Kansas City area.  Hope you like it!

The Perfect May Day
When April's daffodils have gone away
And hyacinths slip back to their earth,
The glad unfolding of May's display,
Sings happiness of our birth.
Into the perfect spring, the perfect May,
We joyfully greet sweet spring's morning dew;
And nature's gift, a floral bouquet
For each of us, not just a few.
The sprite arrival of the perfect May Day
Sings a chorus of promise and grace;
Warm sun, barefoot grass-carefree summer on its way,
And a bright smile on every flower's face.
